ZYJ200 Rádio Clube, Curitiba PR 1430

I heard Rádio Clube on June 9, 2012, and today Lauro Pazeto sent me an email to confirm this reception, replying to my reception report sent by air mail. This was QSL #20 from Brazil in 2012.

Thanks a lot to Fredrik Dourén for sharing this moment of joy, and for great hospitality during my stay in Borlänge for the Peace & Love 2012 music festival!

HCPN1 Radio Vigía, Quito 840

After lots of attempts I finally heard Radio Vigía for the first time on September 14, 2011. The QSL didn't exactly come right out of the box, but  finally I got a nice email from   Alejandro Velasquez.

Since this morning in September 2011 I have heard Radio Vigía several times.

CP... Radio El Fuego del Espíritu Santo, El Alto 1580

Radio El Fuego del Espíritu Santo is heard by several DX-ers in the Nordic countries the past months on its offset frequency of 1580,48v kHz. Bolivia on mediumwave is never easy, so I was very pleased to hear this station on May 1, 2012. This is the background story on Radio El Fuego del Espiritú Santo, as summed up by Henrik Klemetz:
"Heard on an extended Christmas transmission in 2008 by Mika Mäkeläinen, and identified by Henrik, this station did not receive Mika’s report. The Bolivian P O returned the letter to the sender as undelivered.  Heard again on the same split by several listeners in Finland, Sweden and Norway in 2012, Henrik collected the audios in order to find sustainable programme detail. Fruitless attempts were made in obtaining a working postal address and phone number until Tore B Vik  finally made it through a Norwegian missionary organization in La Paz. Henrik phoned the station and was told that they did not have an email (which in Bolivia is expensive and scarce). Having agreed on a “collective QSL”, and the promise of shared telephone costs, Henrik phoned once again one week later. He talked to the station manager and described the programme content found on Mika’s 2008 recording and on the clips submitted by three people, Pekka Kostiainen, Torolf Johnsson and Arne Nilsson who were listening simultaneously in March to a live programme whose name was given on the air.  The station manager was surprised. The programme title was a match. To avoid the flooding of his email and much additional hassle, Henrik said he would send him a letter containing the names and dates of reception submitted by nine listeners to the manager’s personal email. He would not send in any of the recorded samples he had collected, but they were of course open to inspection if needed. After a few more follow ups on the phone and by mail, the written acknowledgement was sent out to the lucky nine."

I receved an email from Fausto Lima Poma entitled "gracias por la sintonia", and my MW QSL no. 3 from Bolivia was a fact! A quite smooth process from my point of wiev, thanks to Tore B. Vik for his contacts in the Misión Alianza de Noruega en Bolivia and to Henrik Klemetz for his huge skills and great efforts in this case. Thanks alto to 4 DX'ers in Finland and 3 in Sweden for their cooperation. Gracias, amigos!

OAM7L Radio Solar, Espinar 1440

In the happy old days you could listen to Radio Luxembourg on 1439/1440 at night. Nowadays you can hear radio stations from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Peru, Dominican Republic or Nicaragua on 1440 kHz in the spring and summer.
Come on - you can't claim to be a DX-er and still miss Radio Lux :-)
I couldn't find any stations of interest on the mediumwave band on July 30, 2011, except from a signal from Peru on the split frequency of 1440,248 - "... Radio Solar, Radio Solar ...".
To my surprise I received an email tonight from Prof. Narcisco Chacca Choque, who is Director General, with a confirmation of this reception!

CX28 Radio Imparcial, Montevideo 1090

I heard Radio Imparcial once when I was living in Molde in my glory days in the mid 80'ies, but only with the tail of their ID: "... República Oriental del Uruguay". I believe this was before BBC established their powerful transmitters on 1089 kHz, making 1090 a very hard frequency on the west coast of Norway ever since.

But I heard Radio Imparcial again - on April 25, 2012, when this nice Montevideo station had a loud and clear signal for a few minutes. I heard a part of a programme called "Amigo en la Madrugada" from Iglesia Universal del Reino de Dios, aired daily from 23 to 03. Radio Imparcial was founded in 1939, and has a power of 15 kW. Thanks a lot to Julio Termezana for this wonderful confirmation.

HCFV2 Radio Galáctica, Guayaquil 1230

With a recording from October 19, 2011 at my ears I decided to find Radio Galáctica from Guayaquil - a station far from commonly heard here in Scandinavia. And for once it took only a few minutes to catch a new station!
