OAX7X Radio Juliaca, Juliaca 1290

It was a tremendous pleasure hearing Radio Juliaca for the very first time on May 28, 2011. The frequency was 1289,908 and the signal was huge for a moment. Tonight I received a very nice email from Guadalupe Apaza Quispe, who kindly confirmed this excellent reception.

Radio Juliaca is the oldest radio station in town, and that's why they call themselves La Decana. The announcement I heard was like "... 1300 kilohertz en Amplitud Modulada y 90.9 en Frequencia Modulada - Radio Juliaca, La Decana". Both their web site and the email I received say the AM frequency is 1290 kHz, but still they announce 1300 kHz.

Juliaca is at 2823 meters above sea level, and has a population of approximately 300.000.

In the same moment that night CP107 Radio Yaguarí was heard with a great signal on 1440 kHz.
