WEZS Laconia NH 1350

WEZS is one of quite many new stations on 1350 this season, and also one of a few captured from Smøla while I was in Arctic Norway for KONG18. The date for this reception was 25 October 2008, and the email I received had a lot of interesting information:
"I am pleased to confirm your reception of WEZS(AM) on October 25, 2008 at 6PM Eastern Daylight Time at your location on the island of Smela. WEZS operates with a daytime power of 5,000 watts into a 192 foot non-directional antenna located at Sanbornton, New Hampshire. You were fortunate to catch a few seconds of our program just prior to power reduction from 5 kW to our licensed nighttime power of just over 100 watts, which in the month of October occurs at 6PM! The mp3 file shows remarkable signal quality for the distance involved; thank you for forwarding it.

You may be interested to know that WEZS was originally licensed as WKAV, and was one of the earliest stations to operate in New Hampshire, beginning broadcasting back in 1922 as an experimental station located at Laconia. WEZS began operation under its current call sign on November 1, 1994."
