A very nice email from Don DeCesare, President and General Manager of Crossroads Communications, confirmes my reception of WMRD. "I've mentioned you and your friends on the air more than once, as we now consider you part of our regular audience!", Don writes :-)
To the left is a photo of Don interviewing the young mayor of Middletown on 4th of July.

WWWL New Orleans LA 1350
In the morning of November 6, 2012 I heard sports and an announcement for WWL when I was listening to 1350 AM. I sent an email to New Orleans to ask if this possibly could be WWWL. The first reply turned my hopes down, but two days later they came back to me with this:
"I have some good news for you. I have researched this some more and found the true answer. On Monday November 5th we had a lot of different programs to juggle on the air and had to switch around some of our programming to other stations. This night was the only night that Monday Night Football was broadcast on WWWL-1350-AM and the news that followed that broadcast is what you heard in Norway. I am pleased to report to you the recording you sent me was in fact from 1350-AM in New Orleans. The voices heard were our Saints play by play man Jim Henderson and our news reporter Shana Rose. Further, this is a remarkable feat as 1350-AM is only 5,000 watts and after dark it is changed to a directional signal pointing south."
Jim McCutcheon is my man in the Big Easy!

KJOX Kennewick WA 1340
Amy Raye LeMasters kindly confirmed my reception of KJOX, heard from Smøla with a nice signal on October 31, 2012. "Your email was quite the topic of discussion in our building today! I
was genuinely excited to hear you were able to pick up KJOX 1340 AM here in
Kennewick, Washington", Amy writes.
WTDR Gadsden AL 1350
Less than 30 minutes after I heard WWWL, I also picked up WTDR on 1350 AM on November 6, 2012. Both were indeed most wanted! James C. Burton, Operations Manager/Production Director, writes: "Yes, what you heard was in fact WTDR 1350 AM. Funny thing
is, had you listened before October, you would have heard something completely
different. We were airing a News Talk format until 10/5, then we began
simulcasting an FM station out of Oxford (Thunder 92.7). As you can see below
we have two other AM stations, and there is actually a third station (1490 AM)
which is what 104.3 and 99.1 are simulcasting off of. I'd never actually heard of DX'ing until I received this email and
Googled it, and that is really cool that you can pick us up! Let me know if you
can pick up any of our other stations".

pattern. I was not able to pick the callout without the help of
headphones, but on the second listening using headphones it was obvious".
HCLE7 Radio Oriental, Tena 4781
I never heard Radio Oriental in the golden 80'ies, due to heavy QRM on and around 4781 kHz. But when I heard this station on July 27, 2012, after its return to the shortwaves, the reception was crystal clear. I appreciate this comeback and sent them a reception report with a 5 USD note by air mail. Three month later I received an old fashioned letter from Ecuador with a QSL card, a stickers and some other stuff. The QSL card was signed by Luis Enrique Espín Espinoza, Gerente General. Nice!

HOL83 Radio Nacional Herrera, Chitré 770
Another pleasant surprise from the
glorious morning of September 26, 2012!
I heard this announcement at 05.06 UTC:
This was followed by a national anthem which I didn't recognize, but the first one I checked was the one from Panamá. And 'tjobing' - the words fitted! Later on I also heard a "Radio Nacional de Panamá" and a couple of "Nacional FM" identifications.
My reception was kindly confirmed by señor Oscar Medina, the same guy who confirmed my reception of Radio Nacional de Panamá on 840 AM a couple of years ago.

Radio Popular, Bilbao 900
I check 900 kHz most mornings, hoping to hear anything else but YVMD Radio Venezuela "Mara Ritmo", Maracaibo. This is an interesting frequency, with this Venezuelan frequently heard. September 10, 2012, I noticed strong signals from Spain and United Kingdom at 04 UTC, and to my surprise Radio Popular de Bilbao - Herri Irratia - was heard.

ZYI778 Rádio Relógio Musical, Paulista PE 1120

Daniel Oleiro, Diretor de Comunicação, kindly sent me an email to confirm my reception and to tell the history of the station:

Unlike recent summer periods, when 1120 kHz used to be covered by the strong signal from Rádio Rural, 1120 kHz has been an exciting frequency for hearing Latin Americans this year. I have heard CW31 Radio Salto several times, and also two other Brazilian stations:
- ZYI778 Rádio Relógio Musical (1119,887) on May 2
- ZYJ253 Rádio Mais on June 11
Today I received this most friendly email from Moisés Dias Reinhardt confirming my reception of Rádio Mais. He also attached four files (pdf, ppt, jpg and mp3), among them this logo. Obrigado!

LRI221 Radio General Obligado, Reconquista SF 1440
On May 22, 2012 I heard a station on 1440 kHz with ID "Mil Cuatro Cuarenta" and a program announcement. This didn't sound like anything else I'd heard on 1440, so I sent a clip to Henrik Klemetz for his opinion. And Henrik didn't let me down. He got the name of the program, and through this he found that the station most probably was Radio General Obligado in Reconquista, Provincia de Santa Fé. This was confirmed tonight in a brief email from Edgado Sacuedo, Gerente.
Radio General Obligado was heard again on July 9, with a full ID and with a better signal.
