KMNS Sioux City IA 620
A very nice email from Scott Miller confirmed my October 30, 2010 reception of KMNS:
"-Arnstein, that is most definately our Legal ID. It's amazing that you were able to pick up our 1,000 watt radio station so far away! From now on, we will make sure to also cover some Norwegian sports scores, just in case you're listening...
The metropolitan Sioux City area actually covers three states. The lagest portion of the city is in Iowa, but it also extends into South Dakota (North Sioux City) and into Nebraska (South Sioux City). Strangely, North Sioux City South Dakota, is actually west of Sioux City, Iowa. Apparently the first settlers weren't very clear with their directions... Overall, it is home to approximately 125,000 people.
More history/facts can be found here, if you're interested http://www.siouxcityhistory.org/home.html"

ZYN210 Rádio Vitoriosa, Uberlândia MG 1390
Last week I examined a recording from July 19, finding an interesting signal from Brazil on 1390 kHz. The signal was good, but I heard no regular ID - just an announcement mentioning "1390". I sent a mp3 to Henrik Klemetz asking for help, and it didnt' take more than minutes until Henrik came back with the solution: the announcement was for a show named "Noite Vitoriosa".
Their web site - www.redevitoriosa.com.br - came up with a lot of contact info, and today I received an email from Paulo Azevedo, kindly confirming my reception.
This was my QSL #50 from Latin America in 2011. Thank you Paulo - and Henrik!

OAX7X Radio Juliaca, Juliaca 1290
It was a tremendous pleasure hearing Radio Juliaca for the very first time on May 28, 2011. The frequency was 1289,908 and the signal was huge for a moment. Tonight I received a very nice email from Guadalupe Apaza Quispe, who kindly confirmed this excellent reception.
Radio Juliaca is the oldest radio station in town, and that's why they call themselves La Decana. The announcement I heard was like "... 1300 kilohertz en Amplitud Modulada y 90.9 en Frequencia Modulada - Radio Juliaca, La Decana". Both their web site www.radiojuliaca.com.pe and the email I received say the AM frequency is 1290 kHz, but still they announce 1300 kHz.
Juliaca is at 2823 meters above sea level, and has a population of approximately 300.000.
In the same moment that night CP107 Radio Yaguarí was heard with a great signal on 1440 kHz.

HCCM1 Radio Colón AM, Quito 780
Another excellent catch from October 19, 2010 was Radio Colón AM, heard minutes before HJC21 Antena del Río. A letter by air mail gave me an email back - from Fausto Acurio, Asistende de Gerencia.
I heard more than 30 new LA stations on October 19, and still I have more recordings to examine.
CMKN Radio Mayarí, Mayarí (Radio Angulo) 1490
Radio Angulo suprised me to be heard on 1490 kHz on February 22, 2011. A nice email from Eddy García de la Rosa confirmed this reception.
Here is some additional information received from Mauricio Molano as a comment to this post:
"This is really the tx. of the local station CMKN Radio Mayarí (1KW). As usual the local station relays the provincial one (R.Ángulo) when not producing its own programs. According with Radio Cubana, Radio Mayarí produces 12 hours of programing so the other 12 are filled with the R. Ángulo feed"

KDJS Willmar MN 1590
According to Rob Ryan KDJS were on their lowest power of 89 watts when I heard them on November 5, 2010. This turned out to be a pretty good day for the 310 antenna in Kongsfjord.
