KID Idaho Falls ID 590

I spent quite a few hours in the lower AM band during KONG17, and one of the nice stations I managed to pick up was KID 590 AM. This was despite of heavy QRM from the 590 super dominants KHAR and CJCL. This afternoon I received a long and interesting email from Market Chief Engineer Rhett Downing, confirming my 18 October 2007 reception. He has some quite interesting news: "[...] the cluster of stations to which KID AM belongs was sold to GAP West Broadcasting who took over management and control of the stations the first of February (this month). Another Wyoming station reception report was found this week end and sent yesterday. KRSV was heard on KONG17 both on 14 and 15 October. Today General Manager Jerry Hansen sent me an email to confirm my reception. I quote from his nice and interesting email: "Afton is a small town in western Wyoming near the Idaho border. The population is around 1,800 people. KRSV's service area includes many smaller towns of a larger mountain valley named Star Valley".

KPOW Powell WY 1260

One of the stations I've failed to hear on previous KONG DXpeditions is KPOW, but on 14 October 2007 I heard them. This date turned out to be a very good day for NA DX!
I had some doubt whether I should send this recording to the station or not, due to a very strong signal from CFRN Edmonton. But yesterday I did, and today Scott Mangold wrote to me: "Yes, that was KPOW you picked up with Russ Graham doing the legal ID at the top of the hour. I also could hear the start of the ABC news jingle" . So even if the signal wasn't very clear, the confirmation was. Thanks a lot, Scott!

KQIK Lakeview OR 1230

KQIK 1230 AM is a quite regular station in Kongsjord, heard both in 2005 and in 2007. Tommie Dodd sort of confirms this: "We have had several reports other than yours. We do not know how it works, but it does". It was very nice to receive this verification from KQIK, which is my 4th Oregon QSL on 1230 kHz.
